ABC 17 News is seeking a full-time Sports Anchor/Multimedia Journalist. Home to the University of Missouri, Columbia is a sports town. The Mizzou Tigers compete in the country’s best conference, the SEC. Several other area colleges offer an exciting array of sports including basketball, softball, soccer, and volleyball. This job is for a self-starter who will work with the sports director and assignment desk to develop sources and generate enterprising content. Employee must have the flexibility to work in a fast-paced newsroom and could be called upon to beat report, general assignment report, produce, web edit, shoot live shots, take still photos, write blogs, etc.
Job Description:
The successful candidate’s primary duties will include gathering information, writing, shooting and editing stories from around Mid-Missouri for nightly newscasts, station’s weekly sports magazine show, station’s website and other digital platforms. Duties will also include sports anchoring and producing.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and the public. They must have strong writing and organizational skills, videography and video editing skills and a professional on-camera presence. A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or a related field is preferred. Previous newsroom experience is a plus. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and pass a drug test and background check.
